Abstract:In 1934, Liu Dunzhen went with his teamfrom the Society for Research in Chinese Architectureto investigate Kaiyuan Temple in Yi County. Followingthe investigation, they published a comprehensive reportcontaining a summary, plans, and 20 photographs. These145 photographs, currently housed in the Memorial Hallof the Society for Research in Chinese Architecture atTsinghua University, originate from this investigation.Recent research on Kaiyuan Temple has made it possibleto precisely ascertain the shooting locations and subjectsdepicted in these photographs, and to determine thechronological order and time period associated with themajority of the images.
