Abstract:This paper explores Weilongwu, in particular the design of this Hakka house and its characteristic features, the philosophical ideas of Huatai, the historical evolution of shape, and the role of the Five-Phases stones.Weilongwu embodies Zhou Dunyi’s theory Taiji tushuo. It also contains the traditional ecological wisdom of construction suitable for use in a mountainous area. The paper thus suggests that Weilongwu is a perfect example of an organic and eco-friendly Hakka house that has adapted to the local environment, while conveying Chinese traditional culture and philosophical thought.
