Abstract:This article traces the evolution of municipal buildings in Hong Kong from the early 1980s to the 21st century, and analyzes planning intentions, policies, and features. The authors divide the evolution of this building type into two stages: the first stage encompasses last two decades of the 20th century; the second stage started in the 21st century. Four examples are chosen from each stage to reflect the characteristics of architecture and historical setting.
