Abstract:The paper aims to determine the age of the dougong under the eaves of the Shengde Shengong Stele Pavilion at Changling, one of the Thirteen Tombs of the Ming dynasty. Through archival research and comparison with dougong forms of the official dynastic styles of Ming and Qing, the author demonstrates the change that the Stele Pavilion dougong underwent in the early Ming (Xuande), mid- to late-Ming, mid-Qing (Qianlong), and Republican periods.
